Alphabet Art
Photo Essay
Narrative
The subject of my photos is nature generally near Berkley. I chose these locations due to the large amount of nature in the Berkley area. With these photos, I attempted to portray the innate beauty in all of nature. My images very clearly captured nature, with trees, grass, flowers, etc. in my photos. The first and last photos were taken at the same position in order to convey that a journey has been completed, leaving and returning to the same location. The photos are all in black and white in order to further strengthen the unity between them. The strongest photo in the series is the second. Positive and negative space are apparent throughout the photo due to the contrast between the large amounts of branches and the sky. The rule of thirds was utilized in the photo as the person rests on the lower third of the photograph and the trees are on the right and left third of the image. In terms of technical aspects, the photo was taken with a large depth of field in order to show the environment and road all in detail. In addition, the image was taken with a straight-on angle from a far distance from the person in order to create a sense of mystery and adventure.
